Medical teams constituted

Collectors advised to ensure adequate supply of medicines

Hyderabad, August 5, 2006

The Health Minister, K.Rosaiah on Saturday said that the Government had constituted 245 medical teams to provide timely help to victims in several flood affected districts. Speaking to media after a review meeting, he said 214 medical teams including 58 mobile ones had been deployed in the worst hit Srikakulam district.

Similar teams were constituted in Vizianagaram (2) Visakhapatnam (16), West Godavari (12) Krishna (6) and Khammam (11).The State Government had directed the District Collectors to ensure that adequate medicines were available to the needy. The Government has released Rs.5 lakhs each to Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts for purchase of medicines.

A central Control room had been opened in the Directorate of Health. It is headed by an Additional Director and assisted by Joint Director to monitor the situation. He directed all the Collectors to monitor the situation.
