Separate Telangana to be on people agenda

Vijayanagaram, August 29, 2006

A separate state of Telangana cannot be formed on the whims and fancies of the political leaders. They should act on it after holding wide ranging discussions with the people said the Lok Satta National coordinator Jayaprakash Narayan. Speaking at a press conference, he expressed that unless an agenda on separate Telangana comes from the people, the efforts of politicians would not be successful.

A separate Telangana would not benefit the people as they would face the problem of accessing adequate natural resources, he said The State Government has been allocating nearly Rs.2500 crores for education and health sector every year but the out come is almost nil as it has failed to provide facilities to the people at the gross root level.

He said people should accept the new political parties for the benefit of all and said Lok Satta is being launched as a political party on October 15 and they would contest in elections only after it emerges as a strong party. He further said that the formation of the party is not for vested interests but to address people's problems.
