15 TRSs MLAs suspended again

Assembly proceedings hit again

Hyderabad, August 29, 2006

For the second successive day, the Speaker KR Suresh Reddy suspended 15 of 26 Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs for the House for the day as the war of words with the Continued despite the repeated appeals by the Speaker. They were forcibly being evicted from the House.

The MLAs walked to the office of the Director General of Police claiming that they had prior appointment with the DGP (Law and Order) PV Naidu for submitting a memorandum. On being denied entry, the MLAs charged Naidu of insulting the people of Telangana and appear that he agreed to meet two MLAs and receive the memorandum even as the TRS legislators insisted on an apology. However, he spoke to T Harish Rao over phone and said sorry.

T Harish Rao addressing the MLAs warned that incidents of this type will spark off a revolution by the police personnel from Telangana. He said that the Government has still not transferred 300 Andhra police personnel working in the City and that more CIs were being deputed to the city.
