Tension in Wanaparthy town

Mahabubnagar, August 27, 2006

Supporters of both the Telangana Rasthra Samithi (TRS) and the Congress Party were injured in clashes between the supporters of the two parties at the Wanaparthy Town in Mahaboobnagar.

The situation arose when the local MLA Chinna Reddy of Congress was visiting various Ganesh pandals in the town and was being stopped by the TRS supporters. Supporters of both the parties immediately began blaming each other and later restored to beating each other. Police swiftly acted and lathi charged to disperse the groups. The injured were rushed to the hospital.
