Assembly adjourned for third day without any business
Hyderabad, August 25, 2006
The impasse in the Assembly over the Telangana Rashtra Samithi's demand for a discussion on Telangana could not be broken forcing the adjournment for the third day on Friday without transacting any business. The Assembly which has already lost four days in this brief session which began on August 17 will meet again on Monday.
The Chief Minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ruled out the suspension of the protesting members or extending the monsoon session beyond August 31. Despite the repeated requests by the Speaker KR Suresh Reddy, the TRS members demanded a resolution for the statehood be taken up for debate. The Speaker left with no alternative except to adjourn the House for Monday.
