Telephone call turns hoax

Vijayanagaram, August 24, 2006

Bomb scare at State Bank of India (SBI), Chinnaveedhi branch kept the police on tenterhooks on Thursday. According to available information, the In-charge Branch Manager of the bank P Venkatarao received a phone call around 1.20 PM that a bomb was planted in the bank. He immediately alerted the police.

The police, bomb squads along with sniffer dogs were pressed into service on receiving the information. Tension prevailed in the branch premises on knowing the news. After a thorough check, the police confirmed that it is a hoax call. Deputy Superintendent of Police KK Achary said that this is an act of a mischief monger and efforts are on to trace the culprit.
