Two and half years wait ends in disillusionment
Hyderabad, August 22, 2006It took two and half years for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders and Union Ministers K.Chandrasekhara Rao and A.Narendra to bid a good bye to the alliance of Congress being disillusioned with the silence by Congress on the separate State hood for Telangana. The efforts of the TRS president K.Chandrasekhara Rao to convince the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh for an assurance failed that led them to resign from their ministerial posts.
The TRS President K.Chandrasekhara Rao will undergo indefinite fast at 11am at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to focus the attention of the leaders of all political parties on the issues of separate Telangana. Sources reveal that they are likely to come out of UPA. The TRS party accused the Congress with betrayal of the people of Telangana. Meanwhile the senior Telugu Desam Party leader N.Janardhana Reddy said the TRS leaders have realized rather belatedly that they have lost all credibility and for the same reason, their resignation would not have any impact. He said that the Union Ministers for the past two and half years stay in the Government did nothing for Telangana but to enjoy the power.
Meanwhile, the TRS has decided to stall the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday demanding that the elected representatives of the TRS to come out with their stand on the statehood issues. At a press conference on Tuesday, TRS Legislative Party leader G.Vijayarama Rao said that a meeting would take place with the leaders of TRS and TRS MLAs to finalize the future course of action in the light of indefinite fast proposed by its party leader K.Chandrasekhara Rao in New Delhi on Wednesday.
