Hyderabad, August 2, 2006

The State Government has no intention of retrenching staff from the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and the Opposition parties are raising a hue and cry needlessly, said the Congress. Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) spokespersons P.Venkatarao and others said that the Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy and Home Minister K.Rosaiah had clarified time and again that no employee would be retrenched and no PSU would be closed down.

They said that the Government was committed to creating more employment opportunities, they recalled the revival of 10 cooperative sugar and spinning mills after the Congress came to power. They said that the Implementation Secretariat constituted by the TDP Government had made an assessment of excess employees in PSUS and it is meant only for the purpose of assessment.
