Cashing on with power generation due to increased inflows
Hyderabad, August 2, 2006
Thanks to the monsoons and the its rains, AP Transco is able to cash in with the excess power generation at some of its power generation stations in the state. With the water levels increasing, power generation at some of the key hydel power stations such as the one at Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar and Jurala is generating excess power.
AP Transco is selling the excess power generated to other states such as Maharastra, Chattisgarh, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. The sale process was conducted through the Power Trading Corporation, Tata Trading Company, RETL and NTPC with an average price of Rs. 3 per unit of power.
AP Transco is doing its best to meet the state power demand of 180 mu every day. With the excess inflow the power generation from thermal power plants in the state has been marginally decreased or shutdown.
