Hyderabad, August 19, 2006The Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers vice president T.Narasimhan said on Saturday that the decision to substantially increase the salaries and allowances of MPs was unjust as ninety percent of workforce was not assured of minimum wage.
He referred the Cabinet's justification on its decision that the last raise for MPs was given five yeas ago, he said that Sixth Pay Commission was appointed after a gap of 10 years.
The UPA Government was adopting double standards by increasing the pension of MPs to Rs.6000pm while the Central and the State Government employee's pension was left to the forces of market economy under the new pension scheme. He said that the Centre is hesitating to enact a comprehensive Social Security Act for the unorganized sector which was promised in the UPA national common minimum programme.
