TRS stalls proceedings on GO No.610

Demands for discussion on the GO

Hyderabad, August 18, 2006

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) members stalled the proceedings of the State Assembly for nearly 20 minutes demanding a discussion on the implementation of GO No.610. The TRS moved an adjournment motion which was disallowed by Speaker KR Suresh Reddy stating that the issue was listed in the business of the House during the current session.

However, the TRS MLAs displaying placards began raising slogans and rushed to the Speaker's podium forcing him to adjourn the house for ten minutes. N.Narasimha Reddy of TRS alleged that the Government did nothing in implementing the GO.

T.Harish Rao of TRS speaking to ministers in the Assembly lobbies alleged that there were no signs of implantation of the GO. The Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy assured the assembly during budget sessions that a House Committee would be constituted but nothing has been done.
