Charges Government for failure in handling flood situations

Hyderabad, August 18, 2006

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu charging the Government with failing to take proper precautionary and post relief flood relief measures demanded Rs.1000 crores be released immediately to the affected villages for rehabilitation and restoration works.

He charged the Government in Assembly on Friday that the loss of lives and properties could have been averted had the Government followed the norms for controlling the floods. He said that there was no co-ordination between the Central Water Commission and Irrigation Department.

He accused the Ministers of remaining indifferent to the plight of the victims and failing to tour the affected areas immediately.
