Vangaveeti Santhan Kumar seriously injured in the action

Vijayawada, August 18, 2006

Vangaveeti Santhan Kumar, son of former MLA V.Chalapati Rao and cousin of MLA (East) V Radhakrisna was critically injured and his aide Varaprasad was killed at close range just outside the civil courts premises on Friday in Vijayawada. Santhan who was seated in the front seat received three bullet injuries while his aide who sat in the rear seat was killed on the spot.

The two was rushed to the hospital and the doctors were able to remove three bullets from the body of Santhan Kumar. The condition of Santhan Kumar is still serious according to doctors.

The incident took place when Santhan Kumar along with five of his associates were returning a court hearing in a SC, ST Atrocities case registered against him in Pammidimukkala Police. As the vehicle crossed the gate, two unidentified persons open fire at a very close range and shot pumped bullets on them. Santhan Kumar is the prime accused along with Koganti Satyam in the attempted murder bid on the life of TDP leader Katragadda Nagamalleswararao. Rivalry between the families of Vangaveeti and Katragadda is believed to have led to this incident.
