Hyderabad, August 17, 2006Officials of the Anti Corruption Bureau trapped J Vasavi, working as a Commercial Tax Officer at Eluru when she accepted a bribe of Rs.2 lakhs from a Jewellery shop owner for doing an official favour. The accused demanded the bribe to return the documents seized by her and not to impose any fine and the tainted amount was recovered from her bed sheet in her room.
The ACB officials carried out searches at her residence and seized Rs.5.50 lakhs besides gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs.5 lakhs and the searches are going on. She was arrested and will be produced before the Special Judge for ACB cases, Vijayawada according to a press release.
Her husband M.Srinivasulu who is working as a Deputy Superintendent of Police was also searched and found recovered cash of Rs.5 lakhs.
