Heavy rains likely
Hyderabad, August 16, 2006
The State Meteorological Office said on Wednesday that the depression was likely to intensify and move in a west-northwesterly direction and cross the coast between Balasore and Paradeep on Thursday morning. It said that a depression formed in the Bay of Bengal off the West Bengal Orissa nearly 100 km south east of Chandbali.
As a result heavy rains are likely in Visakhapatnam,, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts with strong wind with a speed of 50 Kmph and the sea will be rough. Distant cautionary signal No.1 has been hoisted at Visakhapatnam, Machilipatanam and Kakinada ports.
