Government to appeal in High Court against APAT verdict
Hyderabad, August 15, 2006
The Minister of School Education, N.Rajyalaksmi said on Tuesday that the District Selection Committee (DSC-2006) will be conducted as per schedule despite the AP Administrative Tribunal (APAT) quashing the common service rules for teachers. She said that the Government will appeal against quashing of the Act concerned and GOs in the High Court. She said that it will not hamper the schedule of DSC which will be conducted on September 9, 10 and 11 throughout the State.
The Minister commented that it is unfortunate that the APAT quashed the amendment Act which was drafted to do equal justice both for Panchayat Raj and Government Teachers in the State. However, she will discuss the matter with the legal experts to see that both transfers and promotions as well.
The Government has issued an ordinance without waiting for the Apex Court's judgment merging the Panchayat Raj and Government service cadres in 2005 and amended the Act and drafted a new common service rules for both teachers. The Government has promoted thousands of teachers and transferred more than 60,000 of whom a majority of them belongs to Panchayat Raj.
