State Human Rights Commission issues notice to DGP
Hyderabad, April 9, 2006The State Government has ordered a high-level inquiry into the killing of two persons in police firing in Medak and Warangal districts and offered to pay compensation to the bereaved families. The Home Minister K.Jana Reddy announced that the Government was prepared to pay ex gratia to the victims and provide all facilities to their families as per Government norms according to a press release.
The State Human Rights Commission issued notices to the Director General of Police Swaranjit Sen and Superintendent of Polices of Medak and Warangal for their killings. They have been asked to respond by April 12. The commission, which took up the cases suo motu, asked them to explain the circumstances that led to the killing of two innocent men and causing injury to another person. The Commission is headed by lead by Justice B.Subashan Reddy and comprising Justice P.Rama Krishna Raju and E.Ismail.
