Disbursal of NRI cheques gets stalled
Kadapa (Cuddapah), April 4, 2006
State Bank of India's employees' indefinite strike continued on the second day on Tuesday affecting transactions worth of Rs.150 crore sin the regional business office and 40 branches in Kadapa district. Disbursal of 900 NRI cheques worth Rs.10 crores was stalled by the agitation, SBI Staff Union regional secretary S.Kiran Kumar Reddy said.
MV Murali, General Secretary of the SBI Staff Union Hyderabad Circle said that there is no revision of pension since 1992 even after two wage agreements were over. Despite the Bank Management and RBI has cleared for the proposals, the Government is very firm on the issue. Financial experts opine that if the strike continues, the impact will be more severe as State Bank of India alone is doing 30 per cent of the business and all the clearing and forex transactions will stand still causing huge loss to economy and more inconvenience to common person as well to business people.
