Burglars have a free run and on increasing trend in the recent days. Just even before 24 hours after the burglary took place in Tara Jewellers in the busy centre in Abids in which the burglars decamped with ornaments worth Rs.60 lakhs, another incident of a jewellery shop being looted, reported from Chintal Basthi area on Tuesday with gold ornaments worth Rs.4 lakhs. In Chintal Basthi, burglars gained entry in Arihant jewellery cum pawnbrokers shop by breaking open the main door grills, shutters, and stole gold ornaments weighting 46 tolas. The intruders had broken open the cash chest. Gold ornaments which were displayed on the racks and those kept in the cupboard were untouched. Saifabad Detective Inspector N.Sudheer said. The incident came to light when local vegetable vendors noticed the broken grills, shutter, and alerted shop owner K.Gandhi. The police rushed to the spot cordoned off the area and brought the clues team to collect fingerprints. In another incident, burglars broke into a railway employee's house at Mettuguda on Tuesday morning and decamped cash and gold worth Rs.1 lakh.

The thieves even not left the MLA D.Srinivas (TRS) house. They entered the highly secured Old MLA Quarters in Himayatnagar on Monday, opened by using a duplicate key, and stole 10 tolas of gold jewellery from the almirah. The incident came to light when the MLA and his associates came to the flat and found the articles were ransacked. He reported the incident to the Police. However, the thieves left a handbag containing Rs.10 lakhs in the house without noticing the cash in it. A police official said that efforts were on to collect the details of all persons working the MLA quarters and opined that more than two persons might have involved in the offence.
