Simhadri Project to be expanded
The State Government has agreed to allocate 700 acres of land to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for the expansion of its Simhadri Thermal Power plant at Visakhapatnam. The NTPC Chairman and MD T.Sankaralingam called on the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy at his camp office on Sunday.
The Chief Minister asked the Chairman to expand its total capacity by 1300 MW to meet the ever-growing power demand of the State and issued on the spot instructions to the District Collector of Visakhapatnam to identify and allot the required land for NTPC.
