Hyderabad, April 3, 2006

An attempt of a Police Constable to intercept a teenager driving without helmet at Abids on Monday pushed the latter in to the risk of losing sight in one eye. Rizvi sustained bleeding injury on his left eye and nose when a constable of the Abids police station allegedly tried to lunge at him with a lathi to stop his motor cycle that caused bleeding injury. After seeing this, the constable fled the spot.

Passers by rushed the student to a hospital and was later shifted to Sarojini Devi Eye hospital when doctors operated upon him and removed the glass pieces. Central Zone DCP B.Srinivasulu said that an inquiry was ordered and said that action would be taken against the constable if he was found at fault. He said Abids Sub Inspector Shankar was also at the spot when the incident took place.
