MRTS project to come up in BOT basis

Hyderabad, April 26, 2006

SPAN and Semaly Consultants, a consortium of Delhi and France based agencies have been selected as consultants for the proposed metro rail in the city. The consortium will assist the Government to select a developer to build the Rs. 7000 crore MRTS project on build operate transfer (BOT) basis. Six consortia have been already qualified to bid for the project. The consultant will review the detailed project report prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and prepare technical and financial estimates. It also needs to prepare a financial bid document, prepare BOT structuring, legal framework and achieve financial closure. The design will be done by DMRC. The executing agency will invest the money required for the project, the Central and State Governments would extend support in terms of viable gap funding up to 20 per cent each.

The MRTS Project Director NVS Reddy said that the Government proposes to give the executing agency the rights to collect fares, advertisement charges, real estate development at MRTS station and depots over the contracted term.
