39 Annual Meeting to begin from May 3 at Hyderabad
Hyderabad, April 25, 2006
Development challenges facing Asia in the wake of global imbalances are expected to be figure at the 39th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank's Board of Governors, which begins on May 3, an ADB release said. The meeting takes place in the context of an Asia and Pacific region that its economically buoyant.
ADB projects that the region will achieve an overall economic expansion of 7.2 per cent in 2006 and 7 per cent in 2007, a marginal easing from 7.4 per cent in 2005, the release said. According to the latest India Country Strategy and Programme Update, ADB plans to scale up lending levels to India from an average of around $1.24 billion in recent years to around $2.65 billion by 2008. Nearly 2,500 delegates will be attended the May 3-6 meeting at Hyderabad.
