Directs Association to tender apology

Hyderabad, April 24, 2006

A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday directed the State Government to ensure that the ban on use of harmful varieties of plastic to store food is implemented. It also directed the Government to create awareness among the public the harm of usage of plastic bags and the provisions of Recycled Plastics Manufacturing and Usage Rules 1999.

The Court directed the AP Plastic Manufacturers Association to tender an unconditional apology for making misleading statements about the usage of plastic. The bench said that action would be taken against the president and association members if they fail to do so.
