Second such incident in recent times
Anantapur, April 22, 2006Even before people began to forget the murder of former TDP MLA Sooreedu few days back, another faction incident has put Anantapur district on alert. Former Municipal Councillor Boya Ramanjineyulu was murdered at the busy powerhouse circle in Anantapur on Saturday evening. The culprits used country made bombs to kill their target. According to sources, he was an accused in the murder of another Councillor. The victim belongs to Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the party in opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.
Former Chief Minister and President of the TDP, Nara Chandrababu Naidu few days back accused the Congress party for not taking proper action on putting factionism on hold. He said that when his party did its best to bring about an end to factionism in the region but things came back to normalcy after the Congress came to power.
A series of murders of popular personalities from the region such as that of Paritala Ravi few years ago has put the region into a terror belt.
