Thieves caught on CCTV
Hyderabad, April 22, 2006Thieves waked away with Rs. 20 lakhs cash from the Dilsukhnagar branch of State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) in Moosarabad on Saturday morning. However, four CCTV cameras in the bank premises filed the thieves.
The thieves stole the cash from the table of the bank reserve counter in-charge G. Kamalavati at 10.45 am. The thieves had to pass three doors to get to the table and this is leading the police to suspect connivance of some of the bank staff. The thieves put four packets of Rs.500 bundles into a bag and walked away according to the recordings of CCTV in the bank showed. Each bundle consisting of Rs. 50,000 and there are 10 bundles in each pack. The Malakpet inspector B.Someshwar Rao who is investigating the case said that the bank peon removed Rs.53 lakhs from the bank strong room and placed it on Ms.Kamalavthi’s table at about 10.20am and went out. She distributed Rs.33 lakhs to the chief cashier and the assistant cashier when she noticed that four packs of cash was found missing. She alerted the bank head cashier and the bank lodged a complaint. The police suspect that the involvements of nine member of an inter-state attention diversion gang and are trying to identify them by developing photographs from CCTV recordings. The accused are aged between 25 to 30 years, police said. The case has been transferred to Central Crime Station.
This is the second such incident of day-light robbery in the bank in the Hyderabad region. Only few days back, the ICICI Bank, Panjagutta Branch witnessed such an incident.
