Rs. 30,000 as damages to the wife of retired MEO
Hyderabad, April 21, 2006State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), chaired by Justice B Subashan Reddy directed the Government on Thursday to pay Rs. 30,000 as damages to the wife of a retired MEO who was denied terminal benefits and pension. P Sarojini Devi wife of P Ramachandram, a retired MEO of Sirpur in Adilabad filed a petition stating that her husband had retired in 2003 May and denied terminal benefits.
The Commission, which took up the case, commented that Ramachandram served for 35 years and it is distressing to note that he has not been paid terminal benefits for 3 years despite of his retirement without any disciplinary action. He further suggested that the authorities could not take the right of payment of terminal benefits of the employee casually.
