Anantapur, April 20, 2006
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) accused the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy of trying to influence the investigation into the murder of former MLA Sooredu by giving a clean chit to Panchayat Raj Minister, JC Diwakar Reddy.
TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu said that the Congress has launched a vendetta against Telugu Desam leaders in Rayalaseema. He commented that the Government has ended factionism in the region by eliminating all those who are considered obstacles to the Congress' dominance. A delegation of Telugu Desam leaders called on the Governor Rameshwar Thakur to seek his intervention to check the political killings in the region. They demanded the dismissal of the Panchayat Raj Minister for his alleged involvement in the murder of Sooredu. Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the slain leader were given a tearful burial at Timmampalle village of Yellanur mandal on Thursday. Heavy security was posted to avert any untoward incident that may arise.
