Fish tanks spread over three acres blasted

The administrations of both Krishna and West Godavari have launched the demolition drive on Kolleru Lake destroying the fish tanks as directed by the Apex Court. The administration of West Godavari used explosives at several places in seven mandals of the district to blast the tanks.

Fish tanks spread over three acres were blasted using explosives worth Rs.1.5 lakhs at Kalakurru in Eluru mandal. Collector Luv Agarwal along with officials from the revenue, police, Panchayat Raj and agriculture and other departments supervised the work. Residents who had opposed the move earlier had cooperated with the department in the light of Supreme Court judgment.
