Jaipal Reddy asks Government to address other water projects
Nalgonda, April 2, 2006
The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation stone for the 50 km long Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel scheme, the largest in the country, near Angadipet village in the district. The Government had accorded administrative approval for the Rs.2819 crore scheme, which will provide irrigation water from river Krishna to drought prone areas of the district covering three lakh acres in 21 mandals besides supplying drinking waters to fluoride-affected villages.
Union Urban Development Minister, S.Jaipal Reddy urged the State Government to take steps to construct balancing reservoirs to solve the water problems in the district. Launching the Rythu Chaitanya Yatras near Angadipet village, the Chief Minister said that the State Government had allocated Rs.10,000 crores for constructing the projects this year and would be increased to Rs.12,000 crores next year.
