Police begins investigation
Hyderabad, April 2, 2006More than Rs.10 lakhs worth of electronic goods and cash were stolen at Nalgonda crossroads in the wee hours on Sunday. Thieves gained entry into PH-e-Zone electronics shop by lifting its shutters and stole Rs.3.5 lakhs in cash and electrical goods worth Rs.6.5 lakhs. According to shop managing director Balvinder Singh, the theft was noticed by security guard Ram Singh at 7.30am who alerted him.
After collecting fingerprints from the shop, the police came to a conclusion that the gang headed by Nayeemuddin alias Maruthi Nayeem had committed the offence. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Rajiv Trivedi said that Nayeem, a resident of Rein Bazar was involved in a series of robberies, thefts and vehicle lifting cases and was released on bail a few months ago. Meanwhile, the police picked up Ram Singh for questioning, as he was reportedly not present at the shop after 12.30am. Special teams were formed to trace the culprits. In another incident, burglars struck at a house at Sainadhapuram in Neredmet on Saturday and fled with gold ornaments and cash worth over Rs.7 lakhs. Thieves broke into the house of Shivaram, a manger in a software company at Begumpet, by breaking open the main door and stole the gold jewellary weight 30 tolas and Rs.3.25 in cash while the inmates were away to attend a function.
