Plans to complete process by April-end
Vijayawada, April 11, 2006The board of the Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM-UDA) will meet on April 22 to finalize the zonal development plans (master plans) of about 10 zones in its area. The plans so finalized by the UDA board will be sent to the State Government for approval and notification. The UDA has so far released draft master plans of 14 zones out of the 15, for which it had entered into a memorandum of understanding with Speck Systems Private Limited, Hyderabad. The firm prepared all the plans using satellite imaging. The 15 zones are Vijayawada, Tadepalli, Gollapudi, Kondapalli, Nunna, Kanuru, Gannavaram, Guntur, Namburu, Pericharla, Ankireddipalem, Tenali, Katevaram, Mangalagiri and Kaza.
Barring Namburu, the UDA has released the draft plans of all other zones. The process of engaging the public for submission of objections and suggestions on the plans and receiving responses for about eight zones has already been completed, while the remaining zones will be covered later. Of all plans, it is the draft master plan of Vijayawada, which elicited good response. The UDA officials received about 250 responses, a majority of which objected to the formal declaration of Mahatma Gandhi Road as a 120 foot-wide road. VGTM-UDA Vice-Chairman V Durga Das said that all objections and suggestions had been tabulated category-wise. He said that the UDA is making efforts to complete the preparation of the 15 plans and sending them to the Government for ratification by April-end. He said that another meeting of the board would be held in April-end.
