New Chief Electoral Officer for Andhra Pradesh

V Bhaskar is new Electoral Officer

Hyderabad, April 1, 2006

The Chief Election Commission has selected V.Bhaskar, a senior IAS officer as Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Andhra Pradesh. A communication to this effect was sent by the Election Commission to the State Government on Saturday.

The State Government will make the appointment in a couple of days. The post of Chief Electoral Officer has been lying vacant ever since the Election Commission had stripped M.Narayana Rao off the post, following irregularities in Visakhapatnam I by elections in February.
