Village renamed Indiramma Gramam
East Godavari, April 1, 2006The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy has on Saturday, launched the State Governments prestigious scheme Indiramma Pathakam in the tiny village. The village was named as 'Indiramma Gramam' to mark the occasion. The scheme is intended to provide basic amenities to one third of the villages and one third of wards in urban areas.
Addressing a public meeting after inauguration of the scheme, the Chief Minister said that the Government would provide houses with all basic amenities for the people living below poverty line in the next three years. He further said that the Government has decided to spend 9000 crores every year on this scheme. Explaining about the new scheme, the Chief Minister said that 18:13 lakh houses would be constructed this year in one third of selected villages and wards and nine lakh pensions would be distributed besides providing fee power to 7 lakh houses. Under this scheme, 28 lakh households would get individual sanitary latrines. Later the Chief Minister distributed pensions for widows, challenged persons and weavers.
