Air Deccan Rajahmundry services begins
Rajahmundry - East Godavari, April 1, 2006Air Deccan introduced a flight to Rajahmundry from Hyderabad on Saturday. The Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy at Hyderabad airport in the presence of airline MD Capt. Gopinath inaugurated the flight. Speaking on the occasion, he announced a plan to construct Greenfield airports at Karimnagar, Khammam, Kadapa and two other places in the State.
The MD said Air Deccan would make Hyderabad a hub by establishing a world-class civil aviation institution to train pilots, engineers and airhostesses and provide air connectivity to all unconnected towns. The Chief Minister has given his consent to allot 25 acres of land for the institution near Shamshabad. The MD Gopinath speaking to reports said flight to small towns was a fall out of globalization. Air Deccan wants to spread operations to all the small towns in the State making air travel affordable and accessible to small people. He said that in the next six months, direct flights would be introduced to Tirupati from Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada and other places. The Hyderabad-Rajahmundry daily service would touch Vijayawada on its return.
