Hyderabad
The Joint Action Committee of the APSRTC employees unions on Sunday declared that it would go ahead with strike from 4am on Monday after its talks with Cabinet Sub Committee failed. The Sub committee comprising Ministers S.Santosh Reddy (Transport) Konatala Ramakrishna (Commercial Taxes) and Jakkampudi Ramamohana Rao (Roads and Buildings) began talks.
But soon the talks with the employees got bogged down with the Ministers expressing inability to yield to the unions’ demands of the Government guarantee to take over the 1350 crores of loans and payment of fifteen percent of basic pay as interim relief. The Ministers said only three of the 18 demands were major.
They recalled the Government had reduced MV tax and agreed to total reimbursement of concessions. They said that the Government cannot inconvenience the one crore passengers they transport everyday apart from jeopardizing the interests of the 1.18 lakh employees and their families.
