Anathapur
A helicopter belonging to the Indian Air Force made an emergency landing in the agricultural field in Putlur mandal in Anathapur district on Wednesday due to technical defect developed in the air. The chopper was on the way to Bangalore fro m Hyderabad. After landing, the pilot and his co pilot reached Putlur police station and lodged a complaint there. A support helicopter from Bangalore also landed in the fields around noon and after rectifying the technical snag within half an hour the two choppers flew to Bangalore.

Unprecedented inflows into Sriramsagar project on the Godavari in Nizamabad district following heavy rain in Maharashtra forced the Government to sound high alert in seven districts across the State on Wednesday. In the light of an alarming rise in water level within hours, the authorities are preparing to open all the 48 flood gates of Sriramsagar project once the level touches 1085 feet around midnight as against the Full Reservoir Level of 1091 feet. It is after a gap of four years that the SRSP has received heavy inflows. The Collectors of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, East and West Godavari districts, down stream of the SRSP have been instructed to be vigilant following heavy inflows, which are likely to touch lakh cusecs in the evening. The Chief Minister has instructed the officials to shift people residing near the riverbanks to safer places.

The Chief Minister, YS.Rajasekhara Reddy had a word of cheer for the DSC 2003 candidates on Wednesday when he stated at Kavali town of Nellore district that they would get the placements within a month. Addressing a public meeting as part of ‘Rajiv Nagarabaata’, the Chief Minister said that the work on north canal would commence soon. Regarding the welfare of DWCRA members, he said that the provision of financial assistance had been extended to urban areas also from July 1.
