Elections to 111 municipalities and 12 corporations in the State are likely to be held only in the last week of September probably from September 25 to 27. The delay is attributed in the slow progress in completion of delimitation and reservation of wards and divisions on the basis of 2001 population census. The State Election Commission thereafter required time to study the proposals and ask the Municipal Commissioners to notify claims and objections to electoral rolls as of January 1 last.
