Guntur
Fifty one students of a Mandal Parishad upper primary school at Nidumukkala of Guntur district were taken ill after they took mid day meal on Friday. All of them are admitted in Government Hospital. According to hospital sources, all the students are out of danger. It all happened due to serving of previous day's left over food items.

Announcing the decision to pay damages of Rs.11.67 crores, it assumed responsibility for what it called the 'damage caused by the suspected illegal dealings of the former Head of Human Resources at Skoda, Helmut Schuster'.

A controversy had erupted following the disclosure that Mr.Schuster and his friends with whom the Congress Government was negotiating for the establishment of a VW car factory in Visakhapatnam had resigned and that prosecutors were investigating him on suspicion of fraud and breach of trust. The Chief Minister said that pending investment decision by the Volkswagen Board of Management, the Company remains interested in entering Indian Market.

The Government asked the Indian Embassy in Berlin to fix an appointment for the meeting of a delegation with Volkswagen's top brass in Germany next Thursday to hold further discussions on the car project.

The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy addressing the two day District Collectors' conference which began at Jubilee hall on Friday advised them to listen the voice of the voiceless and improve the delivery system. He said there will be rewards for good work and punishment for poor performance. The Chief Minister asked the Collectors to stand by him in implementing welfare program without resorting to any pressure. He reminded them that his was a CARING Government. He advised them to visit villages twice a week and Scheduled Castes Students' hostels whenever possible to know their living conditions. He said that he had launched program like the Rs.46,000 crore Jala Yagnam, free power supply and mass distribution of land to the poor. He advised the Collectors to hasten the process of land acquisition for irrigation projects by outsourcing survey work and by increasing compensation even up to 80 percent by changing rules.

The Centre has given forest clearance to the Pulichintala project. The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests cleared the project three days ago according to a communication received by the Government on Thursday. This was stated on Friday by the Major Irrigation Minister, P.Lakshmaiah and only one clearance relating to tribal welfare was awaited.
