The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday allotted portfolios to the existing 23 Ministers which fell vacant due to resignations of TRS Ministers and others. The additional responsibilities are only on a temporary basis. The Chief Minister retained the Law and Order and General Administration. The Chief Minister's decision was indicative to postpone indefinitely the Cabinet expansion till the completion of the Municipal Elections. In the wake of this decision, each Minister now has to handle thee to four portfolios. Additional portfolios of Ministers are as under:

Charges have been framed against the medical staff of Government General Hospital for allegedly causing death of a patient by carryout transfusion of mismatched blood. The doctors in charge of Gynaecology ward in the hospital will face the charges under section 304A of IPC. A patient Govindamma underwent hysterectomy a week ago died on Wednesday after receiving mismatched blood.

A two-day conference of Collectors will begin on Friday focusing on land distribution, acquisition for irrigation projects and review of seasonal conditions and issue of ration cards. The meeting will be attended by the Ministers, the Chief Secretary, heads of departments and other top officials, which will be chaired by the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister is expected to get a feedback from the Collectors on the lands identified and acquired for the purpose. An RIDF scheme worth Rs.300 crores attached to the program for developing the distributed lands with irrigation sources is being grounded simultaneously this time.
