Khammam
Six persons, including two constables were roasted alive while another one succumbed to burns on the way to hospital as a luxury bus and lorry laden with power conductor went up in flames after colliding with each other on the Khammam - Aswaraopet State highway. Ten persons were injured in the accident and were admitted to District Headquarters hospital.

The casualties would have been high but for the valiant effort made by one occupant in breaking the glasses and helping out others. The police who responded promptly rushed the injured swiftly to the District Headquarters Hospital and the Mamamta Medical College hospital by arranging ambulances. The bus which was on its way from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam with 33 persons abroad was completely destroyed.

Two constables who were escorting the accused were also killed while the sub inspector managed to escape with injuries. The SP Rajeev Kumar Meena visited the place and monitored the situation.

One thousand activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi from 10 divisions of Hanumakonda quit the party in protest against the party's central leadership's abusive outbursts against the State Government which they said was striving to improve the conditions of backward region.

The activists led by the TRS State Joint secretary T. Jaganmohan Reddy and Hanumakonda urban unit secretary joined the congress in the presence of the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday.
