The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Sunday urged the Prime Minister to immediately grant an interim assistance of Rs.800 crores for taking up relief and rehabilitation works in the rain battered areas. He took an aerial survey of the rain and flood affected areas in Prakasam, Guntur and Nellore districts and also he interacted with some people.

Minister for Agriculture N.Raghuveera Reddy said that the loss was heavy. Several rivulets, streams and tanks continued to be in spate paralyzing normal life in many areas. The situation in Nalgonda district remained unchanged. At least 17 tanks breached, some of them adjoining in the Samstha Narayanapur and Choutuppal areas. Flood water continued to flow over the Vijayawada-Hyderabad highway affecting vehicular traffic.
