With the result of low pressure area in well marked form lay over the South West Bay of Bengal and the adjoining areas of Tamil Nadu. With the result, the North East monsoon which had entered the State became vigorous over South Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. Many areas in coastal Andhra and Telangana region received heavy rain fall disturbing the normal life.

VisakhapatnamThe Visakhapatnam district council of the CPI has demanded that the Government pay Rs.4 lakhs per acre as compensation to project displaced farmers under the Polavaram Project Left Canal. Speaking at a meeting of the displaced persons of the project at Kotthali village in Yellamanchili mandal on Wednesday, CPI district unit secretary JV Satyanaryana Murthy recalled that the Government awardedRs.2.95 lakhs per acre for the displaced persons of the Special Economic Zone in the district last year. The officials had collected the signatures of some farmers to fix the rate of compensation arbitrarily, they said and demanded that the opinion of the farmers be taken into account on the issue of compensation payable to the lands submerged by the project. A ten member struggle committee was constituted with I.Appala Naidu as president and M.Rambabu as secretary.

The entire duration of the partial lunar eclipse, which will occur on October 17, will be visible in eastern India only while people in other regions will be able to see a part of it, according to Director General, BM Birla Science Centre BG Sidharth. The moon will enter Penumbra or region of partial shadow of the earth at 15 hours 21.4 minutes. It will enter the region of full shadow at 17.04 hours and leave the region of total shadow at 18 hours 2.5 minutes.
