Flood situation grim in Tirupati

The flood situation in Tirupati division continued to be grim on Wednesday and five tanks in and around Tirupati breached and another 200 are on the verge of breach in the division with heavy rain lashing the temple town for the third consecutive day under the influence of cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal. With the water entering into 18 colonies, the revenue authorities evacuated 1120 persons to safer places and a boy was washed away.

According to TTD Meteorological Observatory Senior Officer, normal life was paralyzed while vehicular traffic thrown out of gear on the second ghat road. There were huge boulders on the Ghat road as landslips continued. At several places, uprooted trees fell across on the road forcing the TTD authorities to open the link road.
