The 12th All India Conference of the Students Federation of India (SFI) has decided to stage a nationwide protest on December 13 on the occasion of World Trade Organization (WTO) ministerial meeting at Hong Kong to mount pressure on the Government to refrain it from making any commitment in the WTO regarding education sector.
The conference has expressed concern over the impetus given to the conversion of higher education sector as a profit making enterprise following judgments given by the Apex Court. The verdict has resulted in giving freedom to the self financing institutions controlled by the private sector to operate them according to their whims and fancies without any social or Government control, the conference observed.
