The Doctors treating the children suffering from Japanese Encephalitis in the General Hospital have underscored the need for an exclusive ward in view of the Kurnool district emerging as the capital of JE cases in the State. The pediatric ward had been handling the cases since 1986 and the mortality rate which was 30% initially came down to six per cent.
The doctors said 20 children were undergoing treatment in various hospitals as against 10 cases last year. Minister M.Mareppa and the District Collector Vikas Raj visited the pediatric ward in the General Hospital and discussed the measures required to meet the emergency.
