VHP feels Dharmic Councils must run temples
Hyderabad

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) President Ashok Singhal has demanded that a dharmic council be established to manage the day to day affairs of Hindu temples across the country. Speaking at the All India Mutt Mandir conference organized by the AP West unit of VHP on Saturday, he said the council should be given statutory powers so that the functioning of temples was monitored in an effective manner.

A bank should also be started where the income earned by the temples should be deposited. The income should be used for the welfare of the Hindu community alone. Opposing the transfer of the Hindu temples in Andhra Pradesh under the Endowments Act, 1987, Mr.Singhal said the Government should come out with a white paper on development of temples over the years.
