The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee and the former Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has questioned the propriety in acquiring lands for the second SEZ in East Godavari district without making use of the Special Economic Zone at Visakhapatnam.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, he said that during TDP regime nearly 6000 acres were acquired for Rambilli in Visakhapatnam district but not even a single industry has come up there so far. He said let the Government set things right with the first SEZ before acquiring the second SEZ. Stating that Reliance was laying a pipeline for gas supply from Kakinada to Goa, he said a similar plan could be adopted by the ONGC without displacing farmers in Kakinada.
