Ordinance soon against money lenders

Hyderabad, May 28, 2005

An ordinance to prohibit private money lenders from charging interest beyond 12 percent from farmers will be promulgated according to the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He said that the Government had already declared moratorium on the payment of money borrowed by farmers from banks and private lenders.

A Bill replacing the ordinance would be introduced in the Assembly later.
