Maoist threat to Government

Hyderabad, May 23, 2005

The CPI (Maoist) has warned that its cadres will step up armed action to take on the police attacks even while blaming the Government for the ongoing cycle of violence in the State. In an open letter to the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the naxalite party representative, Prakash, held the Government solely responsible for the killing of 'informers' by the naxals.

He justified his argument saying that the police had vitiated the atmosphere during the peace talks by strengthening the informant network and by visiting all the villages. He wanted the Government to prevent the police from using tribals, farmers and the down trodden sections as informants and thereby making them targets of the Maoists.
